Surface water treatment technology

Process overview: Surface water is pumped into the coagulation, flocculation, and sedimentation system to remove impurities and suspended particles. The water then passes through a coarse filter to remove suspended solids before entering a specialized filtration system containing sand, activated carbon, and ODM filter media, which help remove odor and color and adsorb contaminants.

Next, the water is pumped through a fine filtration unit equipped with microporous membranes to remove particles larger than 5 micrometers. This filtration stage serves as a protective barrier for the downstream Reverse Osmosis (RO) system.

The water is then pressurized and passed through high-pressure RO membranes with a nominal pore size of 0.1–1 nanometers. These membranes remove dissolved solids, ions, heavy metals, microorganisms, bacteria, and organic compounds, producing highly purified water while retaining the desired water quality characteristics.

Surface water treatment technology is applied in the production of purified water and process water for industries such as food processing, pharmaceuticals, beverages, and brewing.

Koastal Eco has applied this technology in projects with capacities of up to 420 m³/h.

Groundwater treatment technology

Process overview: Groundwater is pumped into an oxidation tower, where forced aeration strips carbon dioxide (CO₂), increases the water's pH, and supplies dissolved oxygen. This promotes the oxidation of dissolved ferrous iron (Fe²⁺) and manganese (Mn²⁺) into ferric iron (Fe³⁺) and higher-valence manganese compounds, which form precipitates that can be removed in the settling tank.

The water then passes through a coarse filter to remove suspended solids before entering a specialized filtration system containing sand, activated carbon, and ODM filter media, which help remove odor and color and adsorb contaminants.

For groundwater with excessive hardness, an additional ion-exchange filter is installed. This process exchanges sodium ions (Na⁺) in the resin for calcium (Ca²⁺) and magnesium (Mg²⁺) ions in the water, thereby reducing hardness.
